Dear GRASS GIS community,

I am honoured to be nominated for the PSC.

Searching in the great GRASS mailing archive, I've found my first posting back
then June 2006. :-)

It was about compiling grass-6.1.cvs_src_snapshot_2006_06_10.tar.gz on suse a
10.1-linux-box and an error message in the Tcl/Tk GUI.

Since then, I'm contributing to the GRASS GIS project and its friendly and
amazing community here and there: by answering questions in mailing lists and
bug/issue reports, coding some addons, participating in code sprints, helping
to improve GRASS GIS in the MS Windows side of the world (GRASS GIS and
coupling R-GRASS).

Furthermore, since back then in 2006, many things in open source software
development and community involvement changed quite a lot; e.g. source code
repository transition from CSV over SVN to now github, up to the recent change
from the pure mailing list approach to the transition to discourse.

If being elected to the PSC, my focus will be on

* fostering community involvement
* helping to improve GRASS GIS in the MS Windows environment

In my professional life, I'm working as an ecologist in applied nature
conservation, by using GIS in my daily work.
In 2013, I was elected as an OSGeo charter member. In the last 2 years I've
served as a member in the GRASS GIS PSC.

Kind regards
Helmut
