Hi there Rainer
I suspect what you want to do may not be permitted under the Google
Earth license.
That's one of the reasons why I am asking - I know that ArcView 9 has
the facility to do exactly that (but I assume that they have paid for it!).
What about WorldWind? ( http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ )
It os open source and I don't think there would be a licensing problem
if a module would be available in GRASS, which uses the WorldWind data
sources to download a georeferenced satellite image of a selected area.
If you want to get to the actual data or georeferenced imagery then it
might be worth looking at getting it directly from the data supplier. I
am not sure if Google Earth Enterprise let's you get to the data but you
may want to check. GE Enterprise however comes with fat price tag. >

Hi
is there a possibility to import stellite photos directly from
GoogleEarth or WorldWind so that they are georeferenced ? I know about
importing the satellite picture saved from GoogleEarth and the
georeferencing it myself, but I would like to avoid that step.
Thanks,
Rainer
