After updating the index-database (don't know if I use the proper terminology here) with "sudo updatedb" I can trace them but only in the source codes: (a) the one from the ubuntu repositories and (b) of course the one you mention Glynn. However, this file is not installed at least when installing ffmpeg from the ubuntu repositories. I will give another try to compile ffmpeg from its source... but I don't think I'll get to it these days.
