To set the column type in db.in.ogr for a csv file, you have to create another file (e.g. points_in.csvt) with the column types.

See:
g.manual db.in.ogr

or

http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_csv.html

Alternatively, load the csv file with v.in.ascii, which will give you a chance to describe the column types.

Hello,
I tried to create a point vector from a table with coordinates:

db.in.ogr dsn=points_in.csv output=points key=myid
v.in.db --overwrite table=points x=UTM_E y=UTM_N key=myid output=points_vect
=> ERROR: x/y/z column must be integer or double

Why do I get this error?
How to I change the table column format for an imported ascii (CSV) table in order to match integer or double?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,
Timmie
