We recently acquired a very nice data set that includes bare earth 1-meter LAS files and DEMs. I'd like to do various terrain analyses, but I will need to integrate the hydrologic enforcement and breaklines, etc. into the elevation data.
I'm new to raster analysis, and my agency does not want to invest in any more ESRI extensions. So I've made a commitment to GRASS and other open source solutions. I need a plan to integrate breaklines into the raster files and cut through the digital dams that are inherent in LiDAR data. Do I need to produce TINs, or can GRASS do a good job going from LAS to DEM?
