Does the "maxsig=" (e.g. maxsig=20) make any difference?

i.gensigset trainingmap=amostras group=grupo subgroup=subgrupo
signaturefile=assinaturas maxsig=30
What about smaller maxsig's, like:
- maxsig=25
- maxsig=20
- maxsig=15
?
