Thanks for the diagnostic help. I was using the GRASS 7 binary so that's
the problem. I'll try to compile GRASS 7 using the SVN snapshot to see I
can get that to work.

That's incompliant... Did you self-compile all on *that* machine?
If yes, a "make distclean" and recompilation should solve the problem.
