ldd `which avcimport`
may give some info about missing libraries. Maybe a 32bit/64bit mixup?

[rshepard@salmo ~]$ ldd /usr/local/bin/avcimport
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7642000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb77c5000)
No linux-gate.so.1. Since I run only 32-bit Slackware I doubt there's a
mixup on this. In any case, why only this one import attempt threw the
error? (Rhetorical question).
Let me see where linux-gate lives.
