Thanks very much for your input, Maris. Unfortunately it didn't make the think work. Here's the command: r.in.arc input=G:\Data\GIS projects\GRASSdata\Emmental\PERMANENT\srtm.txt output=srtm11 (you can also see it in the printscreen of email 1)
This command is a direct copy/paste from the GUI, which works fine, and its not a problem of the filename already existing, as I have given new file names.
