Can`t tell you exactly - we had a GIS/GRASS course and she was the only student having this problem. And when I fixed the Terminal language issue, she reported that she had never changed anything in Terminal except for some installation associated with R/X11. However, I have these installed as well (and dozens of other students with Macs) without a problem. Generally just wanted to make the point that it is probably not a bug but some user change in Terminal that leads to the problem... Cheers Ralf
