Hi

There is an interesting letter by Duccio Rocchini and Markus Neteler in "Trends
in Ecology and
Evolution" on use of open software in science and research which also mentions
GRASS:

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0169534712000742

Unfortunately it is behind a paywall.

Markus - would it be possible to blog this letter somewhere if the copyright
permits?

But anyway - very succinct letter which brings the issue to the point: Science
should use open
software.

Cheers,

Rainer
