If they are not accessed at a same time, then only problem will be with vector data. GRASS 7 uses a bit different vector data storage format and thus vector data can be used (displayed) only after a v.build run. It's a bit annoying and I don't know if it can introduce any problems (I mean when going G7->G6 vectors), still I haven't observed any.
In conclusion - for raster - doesn't matter; vectors - better stick to one version.
