That's wrong, I changed it in the documentation. Renaming layer is
something different than renaming map. You can have the same map with
different symbology and then you can rename the layer to distinguish those
two layers.

About the naming of the options, I don't think we need to change it, it's
the same in QGIS - you can rename layer but it doesn't mean you rename the
underlying file.
