Try g.copy --ui

It is obviously confusing that the --ui flag is needed for some modules to
start the GUI...

Cheers
Stefan

OK thanks Anna,

what i'm going to describe happens in windows 64 bit osgeo4w GRASS and on
ubuntu 64bit GRASS from "ubuntugis-unstable" ppa

- open up GRASS GIS
- on the shell / console (not in the GRASS GUI) write g.copy and hit ENTER
- nothing happens

if you do the same with another module (e.g. g.remove) the module gui regularly
opens up
