Maybe there is a misunderstanding? The RGB parameter is for draping a (color) image over the DEM. See for example: https://grasswiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GRASS_and_Paraview#RGB_visualization (in the 3D case I am not sure what to drape in color over a volume but it could be some extra parameter).
