Forgot to mention two things: 1) this has occurred before with other
projects and 2) If I manually enter the command exactly as it is provided by
the shell script grass has no problem reading the file.
Manual command line, no problem. Read the command line from a shell script
(executable and with #!/usr/bin/bash on line 1), grass can't open the input
file.
