enable/disable component?

would it be possible to implement an enable/disable switch for
components?
i sometimes have "branches" just to evaluate geometry that i wouldn't
really need
for the end result.
even if u switch of the the preview for certain components that don't
affect the final result
they still process in the background and take time to compute.
- you wouldn't have to disconnect/reconnect them every time.
