Well,  the connection between GH and Excel has been done a number of
different ways.  I posted my means of connection on my blog a while
ago.  What you do with that it after that is up to you.

As to actually connecting to those other programs through VB, I don't
think there are too many options.  I know Ecotect has scripting, but
it uses LUA and I'm not sure if there's any interoperability between
LUA and VB.  I'm not really familiar enough with the other packages to
really say what they offer in terms of scripting connections.  I am
pretty certain that almost all of them have the ability to output data
to excel or to a csv file (which could either be read directly or
through excel), so that's probably the best way to go about it.
