Recently, the NGO OLPC Nepal disbanded when most of the team members
resigned citing issues w/ OLPC Boston's management

When I read "disbanded" I'm afraid I was thinking something like _stolen
laptops_.

Glad it was only dust and a few other things. In fact thank you for all the
detail. About Christmases time
in W Africa we have the harmattan, dry dusty winds off the Sahara + and
spectacular sun rises/sets.

My wife and I spend a lot of time in an 8 village area that includes Kokrobite
Ghana. Most people there make only a dollar a day.

Often village children as well as those in the city are told by their mothers
no food tonight unless you bring money. They peddle sachets of water and other
small stuff. Not much chance for school for them. Also I've known extremely
bright youths working as laborers who were unable to complete carpentry for
other technical courses because of money. One young man always knew what to do
about sick animals. I am sure that in a better world he would have gone to
medical school.

India a nation of 1.1 billion has a chronic labor shortage, in the very area
where it needs workers most: construction. India employs 33 million in
construction, Many projects are delayed.

I believe that OLPC could play a major role in bringing technical training to
the under-employed workforces in many countries.

I've talked to two friends about preparing training videos, one a construction
contractor who was completed a degree at _Kwame Nkrumah University of Science
and Technology <http://www.knust.edu.gh/> _Kumassie and then took construction
courses in Russia. The other runs a Toyota repair shop in Tema. He is a product
of both I think of UST and Toyota training in Japan. We visualized videos in
English and local languages, We want to build a door way here or replace these
bearings is how to do these things.

Each of these men offered their services to the Ministry of Education.
