Ravi, are you talking about Cygwin or native GRASS? Anyhow, if NVIZ refuses to work, try this:
www.paraview.org It's very powerful stuff and has done a great job for me in the past. It reads data in VTK format. There are modules for all GRASS data models that can output VTK format (v.out.vtk etc.).
