Hi! I just did a fresh install and everything works as expected.
Could you please try to start with a fresh config, as well? Also one problem that happens often is that the sha2 is made with the password containing the trailing newline from echo. If it worked before that's unlikely to be your problem, but i thought I'd mention it. the Pre-RC1 web interface and the rc1 server are incompatible, because details of the authentication changed.
