So it seems that the MaxNewSize is simply the default value, refer to 
"problem 2" in http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6792386
Nothing to worry about.
Unfortunately I can't see anything wrong in the histogram, nothing that 
stands out. :(
