As a matter of fact there's a disk-based message cache in Graylog2 since version 0.90.0, see http://www.graylog2.org/news/post/0005-graylog2-v0-90-has-been-released If you're still on Graylog2 0.20.x you might want to upgrade to Graylog2 0.90.1 (which still supports Elasticseach 0.90.10).
