Hi! Old users should have been migrated to the new permission system automatically, please check your graylog server log file. It should contain lines like: "INFO [UserPermissionMigrationPeriodical] Migrating permissions to roles for user"
You can use roles without LDAP group mapping, yes. Simply create the roles and then assign them to users by hand. LDAP group mapping is supposed to make it easier to integrate but is not required. We have not encountered any problems with group mapping so far, are there any errors in the graylog server log?
