I installed Graylog2 server and a collector in another server. Trying to
follow instructions here:

http://docs.graylog.org/en/1.2/pages/collector.html

But just like help for most Linux server applications, it's convoluted,
confusing, it rambles all over the place and it's hard to get anywhere with
it. A bit like learning Russian with a dictionary.

All I want is very simple. Tell the collector what logs I want, apache,
tomcat and syslog, auth, etc and have them sent *encrypted* in transit to
the server with GELF or anything that's is easy to configure.

Yet this is proving a total nightmare to do. I can't even send the logs in
plain test after setting up the config file like it says there. I found
some good tutorials on how to set up the server, but nothing afterwards on
how to setup logs. Does anyone know of any good resources on how to do
this?

Or maybe show me how to do it ;-)
