Problem still persisted through the versions up to version 1.3.2 which we 
are running now.

Thanks for pointing that out Pierre, it did the trick. 

Basically we were using the default "rest_max_chunk_size" of 8192. Doubled 
this as the article suggested on both Graylog server nodes in our 
graylog.conf and no more issue.

Happy to get this issue out of the way.
