I have users requesting the same thing. What I do instead is to create a suitable 'quick values' for some field table on their dashboard, and instruct users to hit the '>' icon in the lower right to leave the dashboard and view the underlying query. It's not exactly what you want, but it's close, and in our environment, they aren't going to actually read the messages in the table, anyway.
I just had a request this morning to "make it display with a red background if message matching 'X' appears". That's a big nope, too. (I'll probably use a Graylog-to-Nagios plugin to do it differently.)
