Hi Uwe, this sounds like the syslog daemon isn't sending syslog messages in a valid format (according to RFC 3164 or RFC 5424). You can use a Raw/Plaintext input instead and apply some extractors to get some structure into those messages, see http://docs.graylog.org/en/2.0/pages/extractors.html for details.
