With the caveat I just started doing graylog, but I am exploring some of the same stuff....
Are you asking how to query for the 54,492 messages without doing it manually? You get half way there with the widget on the bottom that replays the query (it then shows the messages that make up the whole pie) and then you can manually type in the "level=3" for the one you want. I really wish there were hot spots on the graphs to take you directly to those, i.e. click on the line you highlighted anywhere, and up pops 54,492 messages with the full query for that line.
