The answer is and will always be: It depends on your use cases. Both can read lines from text files and send them to a remote host, such as a Graylog server. What's "better" totally depends on your use case. nxlog can also read Windows EventLog messages for which you would need to run winlogbeat instead of filebeat. In general, nxlog is more flexible (leading to a more complex configuration) than filebeat.
