unfortunately the page is behind a firewall - it's a private company
site.

to be clearer:

var div ... // is a div and is declared in the original html file as
<div "style: position absolute; top.  left:..".... >

as i wrote before:

it seems i can set the style (because the alert prints 'static').

but it's not changing it behaviorally.

also, when i inspect the node with DOM inspector, it still says
absolute.
