this very chat script at groups.google.com manges to *add bold script,**,
italian script, underscores,*
and even color, while writing, to something that looks Allot like a
textarea.
so don't give up quite yet, it defiantly is possible (at least to emulate),
somehow..
i dont know how they are doing it (tried to check element, seems im writing
to a <div></div> rather than a <textarea></textarea> o.0)
best guess would be something close to:
addEventListener('keydown',function(button){ele.text+='<bold>'+button+'</bold>';}}
