So far, all I have learned is how to change the background color on Facebook.
I was hoping for assistance in how to change other colors. Such as the top
blue bar, font colors in different locations, the friends in the sidebar,
hover colors. That sort of thing. Even just a push in the right direction
would be appreciated.
First of all, you need to understand CSS. Setting colors directly via
JavaScript is not the proper way to alter many different elements.
Then you need a tool to inspect the page source code with. As I said,
the vast majority of colors and style definitions is CSS, also on
Facebook. You can inspect the page's source code via Ctrl+Shift+I in
Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera, or F12 in the Internet Explorer. For
Firefox, there's also the add-on Firebug (Ctrl+Shift+C or F12). Maybe
the other browsers do have similar extensions like Firebug, I don't know.
You use these tools to find out the CSS classes that are applied to the
elements you want to change, so you know which definitions you have to
override.
Finally, you should make sure you really want to use Greasemonkey for
this. Because if it's only about changing colors, you should better use
Stylish, which is an add-on explicitly made for styling via CSS
manipulations.
This is meant to be that push in the right direction. For more
information on CSS, I'd recommend to use Google, because there's tons of
good sources for any question you might have about the basics of CSS.
