Living Routes Study Abroad Programs for a Sustainable Future http://www.LivingRoutes.org
Just to remind you, Ecovillages are communities striving to create cooperative lifestyles in harmony with their local environments. They are groups of people developing social and ecological tools such as consensus decision making, ecological design, green building, community-scale renewable energy systems, and organic farming - and offering positive visions and alternatives for humanity and the planet. Ecovillages are not utopias, but they're experimenting in all sorts of ways and making some real progress. As such, they make ideal "campuses" for students to "walk their talk" and immerse themselves in both academic and field-based learning about sustainability. Living Routes works with a number of universities (UMass-Amherst, the University of New Hampshire) to offer credit for its semester, summer, and January-Term programs. In most cases, credit can be transferred back to students' home college or university (and Federal financial aid applies). --------------------------------------------------------------------- Semester Programs Senegal: Ecotourism and Sustainable Development www.livingroutes.org/programdetails/senegal/ecotourism/overview.html Study abroad in Senegal and engage with ecovillagers and indigenous peoples on topics of sustainable development and ecotourism.
