Last call for nominations for the 2007 Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards which close on *Monday 2 July*. The Awards celebrate tourism ventures that make a positive contribution to conservation and the economies of local communities while minimising any negative impacts of tourism. Over 600 entries have already been received for the thirteen categories. The Awards will be announced and presented at World Travel Market at the first ever WTM World Responsible Tourism Day on Wednesday 14 November at ExCeL. The categories are: · Best in a marine environment, including beach · Best for mountain, including ski resorts (sponsored by Blacks) · Best in park or protected area (sponsored by Conservation International) · Best tour operator (sponsored by The Adventure Company) · Best small accommodation/hotel (fewer than 50 rooms) · Best larger accommodation/hotel (more than 50 rooms) · Best for poverty reduction · Best for low carbon transport & technology · Best for conservation of cultural heritage · Best for conservation of endangered species (sponsored by Sri Lanka Tourist Board) · Best personal contribution (sponsored by the Canadian Tourism Commission) · Best volunteering organization (sponsored by Lonely Planet) · Best destination (sponsored by G.A.P Adventures) *How to nominate* Nominate online at http://www.responsibletourismawards.com/nominations and include up to 200 words on why you believe your chosen organisation should win a responsible tourism award.
