Communist "Hermit Kingdom" Offers Select Number of Visas for Americans

Salt Lake City, Utah – Snow Lion Expeditions, which has pioneered
journeys into Asia's most remote corners for nearly two decades, is
once again taking guests into historic, uncharted territory. The
company announced that it is accepting bookings for this fall to North
Korea (D.P.R.K.) – a country that has issued less than 1,000 visas to
Americans since the signing of the armistice ending the Korean War
almost 55 years ago.

On an 11-day journey called Contrasting Koreas, the mysterious capital
of Pyongyang will reveal its most exuberant national festival,
towering nationalistic monuments and fascinating iconic propaganda –
all in stark contrast to seductive South Korea and booming Beijing.

Snow Lion guests will receive a rare glimpse into the Demilitarized
Zone (DMZ) from the North, attend the Mass Games national cultural
performance and witness the history and legacy of Kim Il Sung and Kim
Jong Il – the only two leaders in the nation's 60-year history.

"Not since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 have Americans had an
opportunity to visit a Communist nation so unknown and misunderstood
as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," said Ron Barness,
founder of Snow Lion. "Pyongyang is one of the last vestiges of a
Cold War that ended decades ago around the world."

Measured against its neighbor to the north, South Korea charms Snow
Lion guests with 5,000 years of traditions. Explore the palaces and
gardens of Asia's longest-running dynasty, the Joseon, the
1,200-year-old Buddhist temple of Haeinsa and the gorgeous seaside
landscape and underwater tombs of Gyeongju.

This 11-day cultural adventure features luxury hotels (including the
40-story Yanggakdo in Pyongyang) and departs September 19th and
October 3rd. Priced from $5,895 including one night in Beijing, three
nights in Pyongyang and six nights in South Korea.

Since 1992, Snow Lion Expeditions has been a pioneer in Asian travel,
creating enchanting itineraries for guests to 15 Asian countries.
Originally a Himalayan trekking company, Snow Lion now offers more
than 40 different itineraries include World Heritage Sites like the
Mekong Delta, Angkor, Great Wall and Silk Road; as well as
less-traveled destinations like Burma, Mongolia and, for the first
time in 2008, North Korea. Snow Lion's trips have been repeatedly
selected as the world's greatest adventures by National Geographic
Adventure and Outside magazines.
