Dear Green-Minded People,

The NGO RebelFarmer organises in collaboration with the Bulgarian organisation,
Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna (FWFF) the 2nd & 3rd editions of the sheep
transhumance in the Stara Planina Mountains, in Bulgaria.

Actually the shepherd, the 8 european participants and the sheep liked it so
much last year that we decided to renew the experience in 2009 and here we
are...we propose you to join:
- the spring transhumance from the 2nd-9th May 2009
Check the brochure for more info as well as photos on
www.rebelfarmer.org/transhumance-in-bulgaria.html
- the autumn transhumance from the 24-31 October 2009

We are very proud to see that this long distance transhumance consisting in
moving the herd depending on the season has now been revived again; it had been
totally lost due to the pressure of modernization and the economic
nationalization during the communist period.

This year even we'll celebrate with all inhabitants of Kotel village an old
celebration: St George's Day, the saint patron of shepherds.

The participants will make it financially possible for the shepherd to do the
transhumance by walking instead of by truck, so some natural meadows will be
preserved by the sheep. Last year we have released 3 vultures in the area for
re-introduction, and they will take care that the natural cycle is closed again.

Tell us very soon if you would be interested to take part to this spring and /
or autumn transhumance!

Don't hesitate as well to forward this message to some other
friends/families/colleagues that may be interested by such an experience.

Best wishes,

Menno Houtstra
