Like to thank everyone that braved the rain to run in this 2nd Annual event. We
had
one hard downpour setting up, but rain and wind were light after that, and good
temp for a
half marathon. Over 600 signed up, 348 finished the half, and 124 finished the
5K.

Our new chip system worked perfect. The delays in getting results were mainly
due to figuring
runners without chips, visible race numbers, or either. I have not heard any
complaints, appreciate
runners understanding these things. James did a great job resolving the
"unchipped" and the "unmarked",
and correcting a few registration errors, which is usual (wrong age or sex,
which cascades awards).

We arrived for Friday registration at 1 PM, and left Saturday about 2 PM, 25
hours to score a 4 hour
half marathon (everyone allowed to finish, and last was 3:59:23). So is the
life of event directors
and scoring teams. If most runners leave happy, it was worth it to us.

James and I had it easy compared to Butch - he and his team got out at 3 AM to
set out water tables,
signs, and 600 traffic cones in the rain. And of course had to pick up and
return cones after. We
enjoy working with and leaning from him.

Rain always complicates everything, and we lose some volunteers - and thus not
able to do some of
the fine touches. We always welcome constructive feedback, and things you would
like to see added in
the future. Hope we get Oct 11 for GVL Half and 5K, and can add in more bells
and whistles.

The start of the 5K was timed to allow David Swain on his super fast hand crank
bike to complete the first loop
ahead of the runners. David completed the half marathon in about 49 minutes,
inspiring to see.

Complete results are posted below. Will get report from Lace Up later, but it
is Charlie's turn to give us
a report on the KK doughnut run.

Happy Running, Kip
