Youth dies in police cell

ARYANAD: An under trial being treated for jaundice at the police cell in the medical college hospital died yesterday. He has been identified as Sathyan, 42 of Korakuzhi Kottakakam. The police tortured him brutally and took him into custody by charging him in a fake case.
A hartal is being observed here in protest against the harassment. Sathyan was taken into custody on January 4 by the police mistaking him as a hooch seller. The police after charging a case produced him at the Nedumangad Court and was remanded. Sathyan died in the police cell after he was admitted for uneasiness while undergoing imprisonment.
