| PUCL demands probe into Kiliroor-Kaviyoor cases | |||

| The people's enquiry commission on Kiliroor, Kaviyoor sex scandals, has demanded stern action against CPI(M) leaders MA Baby and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Kerala Congress leader R Balakrishna Pillai and a group of 'VIP's who are 'directly involved' in the case.

| Commission chairman and PUCL State president PA Pauran said here on Tuesday that the CBI and the Crime Branch should conduct impartial enquiries taking into account all the circumstantial evidence against these leaders.

| He said that when Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan had visited the Kiliroor girl, Sari S Nair, in the hospital, he said that after the visit of a VIP, the girl had exhibited some kind of uneasiness. He said that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was the first leader who visited the girl in the hospital.

| In the Assembly, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had announced that he was aware of the presence of a VIP. Also, it is learnt that Mr Balakrishnan's son Bineesh and Mr Baby's son Ashok had some suspicious relations with the girl in connection with the production of a Malayalam Tele serial, he said. The police had never conducted an enquiry taking these circumstantial evidences into account, he said.

| In the Kaviyoor case, Latha Nair, an accused in the case, was introduced to Anagha's family as a relative of the Kerala Congress leader R Balakrishna Pillai. Also, soon after the CBI filed an FIR stating the girl had been raped, the Chief Minister had suspiciously transferred all the case files into his office.
