Greetings from the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative! The Police Act Drafting Committee (set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs to draft a new Police Act) has posted eight draft chapters of the proposed new Police Act on the MHA's website, and invite comments and input. We strongly encourage all of you to read the chapters and provide your insights!

Dear Mahesh and other friends,
The Police Act Drafting Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs ,Govt. of India,for which I have been functioning as the Secretary, has put on the MHA web site eight of the draft Chapters of the proposed new Police Act( as a replacement to Police Act ,1861) . Other Chapters shall follow shortly. Suggestions and inputs have been sought by 25th August. May request all of you and numerous other concerned citizens to come up with specific inputs,Chapter by Chapter and Section by Section, that wd fecilitate better collation and propter utilisation for finalising the draft new Police Act . Your replies may kindly be sent on e mail id
