*Meta-Culture Dialogics* is proud to announce the introductory session of its *Inter-Religious Dialogue project!* After months of research and networking in the community*, Meta-Culture Dialogics* has finally launched India's first ever professionally facilitated *Inter-Religious Dialogue Project*. Eight people from the Christian, Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist communities came together on Monday the 5th of March 2007, to discuss issues of interfaith and intercommunal relationships in Bangalore and India. After recent communal tensions here in Bangalore, this timely project is an exciting and original way to bring about deep understanding and build empathy between the diverse religious groups in the community. Monday marked the beginning of what will be six remarkable sessions for these eight participants, who came together to share their personal experiences and insights about inter-religious conflict. *What was unique about this session was that it was neither a debate nor was it an occasion to convince others of one's points of view.* The dialogue was designed to help participants *understand rather than persuade*, all the while allowing people to talk honestly and openly about very contentious and sensitive issues.
*Meta-Culture Dialogics* plans to use this dialogue model in cities and towns across India to build communal peace and cooperation by bringing together activists and leaders from different faith groups to engage in empathetic dialogue,* **The Inter-Religious Dialogue *is a part of *The Transformative Dialogue Initiative, *which brings polarized groups to the table to build empathy and understanding. These forums will discuss disputes such as linguistic, caste, ethnic and urban/ rural divides; the re-settlement of people displaced by the building of dams, roads and industrialization; the sharing of scarce resources such as water and power in society and more. Meta-Culture Dialogics is a not-for-profit center working in the area of dispute resolution and dialogue facilitation.
