Its worrying to see CM's office relate the defacing of a public site as
*hacking* and those behind such acts as *hackers*. Crackers and cracking would
have been ideal. Hacking is a professional act of altering source code, a phase
synonymous with Free software development.

But is it worthy enough to be labelled a cyber crime ? A cyber crime should be
one which affects most common people - spams, threats etc - why should an
individual be forced to know about something she hasn't solicited. If the IT
ministry in Kerala wants to put its public police systems to people's use -
then they should be doing the duty of hunting, tracking down such offenders and
punishing them, however rich and wealthy corporates they be - Microsoft, Adobe,
Viagra, Antarim manufacturer, Global lottery mafia etc. Not the occasional ones
like these which are on the virtual space - will the police show the same
spirit if effigies of public people are burnt or abuse showered during protest
marches - more so, because such acts are done by people who have lost their
balance - Akbar Raj, for instance...
