It's true we silently [uncritically] carry forward the baggage of the past.
there were fundamental difference in the western and eastern perspectives
especially on sex. for the west it was mostly guilt, bad and undesirable. That
is how every one was born 'in sin'. In the earth [material] and heaven
[spiritual] binary, sex was earthly and abominable. It was different in the
Eastern philosophy ... Colonialism gave the western thinking an upper hand
especially with the 'moderns'. and even as anand pointed out Gandhiji
internalized certain elements which he would have otherwise abhorred. RSS
people say painting Hindu gods nude is wicked !!!.

yes the malice with 'fucking' is deeper

  dear rajeender
i am not at all singling you out for criticism. we all use sexual and sexist
terminology without thinking. and u r right that "fucking" is a very common
intensifier. but let us analyse why that is. is it not because our religious
baggage taught us how bad sex (specially when indulged by females) was. so
jesus had to be born without the act. so monks and nuns cant have any. so
brahmacharis are respected. so the purdah in so many religions. so even gandhi
made women shave their heads in his ashram lest they "tempt" the men.

marx is not particularly good in this respect either. he had a child in
secret with his maid servant and never acknowledged this publicly.

it is a malaise deeper than we know.

  best, anand

My wrong is obvious. The fact is that I haven't thought about the need
for a substitution until now. A beautiful word it is in instances
where Marx called money "the universal whore" after Shakespeare or
Lenin calling science a whore that serves any. (Marx also called money
    the universal pimp.)
I doubt if swearing words are essentially sexist. They cut both ways,
don't they, as in the case of pimp? I could have said "pimping Kerala
    through government websites".
Curse words are not necessarily sexual, I can assure you. Fucking is
not always bad. "Fucking good" is also there. As a very common
intensifier "fucking" doesn't carry much sex about it.
