It looks as though many a Human Rights issue in Keralam were got to be acknowledged as existing by the Media- (official )Left - (official and other)Right combine. The ongoing Campaign for Prisoners' Rights in the State has very humble demands to make, like implementing the things which have already been conceded to the prisoners by the State. Yet, the response semms to be lukewarm both from the public and the administration. But I wish to share another thing that goes in my mind: Why do quite a few our HR campaigners in Kerala are not able to take a more universalistic view or can't go even to the extent as our Constitution envisages? For example, despite many of their untiring work and sustained campaign for prisoners' rights in Kerala on this particular issue, the kind of heightened concern with ending all prejudices rooted in caste, gender and the brahmanic-masculine sense of grandeur visibly lacks in such issue-based campaigns
