The AIIMS administration under the leadership of Venugopal is very highly creative. Every day they come up with new means for harassing dalit students. This time they have changed the admission criterion for the senior residentship. For the first time they have introduced a double criterion for selection one is the written examination and the second is departmental assessment. As per the new rule one has to fulfill both. In highly castiest institution like the objectivity of the departmental assessment is every one's guess. As a result number students belonging to reserve category in spite of getting very good marks in the written examination are not even considered because they didn't get through the departmental assessement and their seats are being given to Upper Caste students.
Senior Residency is not a academic course it is a job and AIIMS administration should follow the governement rules in this regard. Students protested this and complained to the Government. Based on this complaint government had put on hold these appointments. But AIIMS administration brushing aside this directive went ahead and issued some appointent letters to their favourite students. The PG Students of AIIMS are on relay hunger strike for the last one week protesting this injustice. Not many people are aware of it. In the name autonomy of the AIIMS has become a personsl fiefdom of Venugopal & Co. They are floting all the norms and constitutional rights of the people. There is need to study the selection procedure, recruitment and promotion policies and expose how the AIIMS administration has been violating the basic rules.
