Invitation for papers ============== "Software standards, protocols, tools, environment and applications have for long been a site for intense conflict and debate. Monopoly industries had produced de-facto solutions when there had been little contest. The result of such innumerable designs had been a visible digital divide which attempted to thwart or limit the progress of information technology, by diminishing accessibility to the environment.
However with the intervention of global institutions and other freedom- conscious organisations, duly assisted by an ever enlarging group of technical institutions, technologists, legal experts, programmers and sensible citizens world-over, an environment - that ensured freedom of contribution and its protection - was created, through which anyone could experience the gradual elimination of barriers-to-entry to the technological domain. Proprietary and unpublished de-facto solutions were forced to retreat as free and open software and de-jure standards made significant inroads into every technological domain that was hitherto threatened by proprietary solutions. Some public licenses ensured that public contributions could never ever be made private and exclusive. When the world economy shifted its orientation and outlook from a product-based environment to service-based environment, these interventions became an enabler for a large chunk of world citizens, who could now think of participating in global transactions without much effort. A plethora of exciting quality-rich solutions resulted. Monopolies, now, face a more real threat of extinction or getting terribly marginalised from the virtual world. International Conference on Information Systems and Technology aims at bringing forth researchers and scholars from academic and research establishments to present unpublished research, case studies and implementations or their critical reviews of premier innovations in this virtual world on Free Software and related areas."
