i agree with Christy (quoting ilaih) on the political uses of polemics.
But, the lesson that i have learnt from all that has happened in the group,
and that has happened to the cyber identity of ranjit in particular is that:

Polemics is politically useful and personally damning!

People, who were already involved in Chitralekha issue might have found the
energy to continue the wavering struggle again also because of voices like
Ranjit "flaming" in a cyber group.  But, in the process, the user of
polemics, while being politically useful for the issue to some extent,
personally loses his complexity of voice, is branded "fascist," and becomes
"moderated" for his excesses later!
