*Haldia, Oct 12*Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will soon lay the foundation stone for a Rs 3,600-crore solar power modules project. The integrated solar power project, the fifth of its kind in the world and the first in India, will be a nodal point for the manufacture of solar power modules. There are only four such plants—in the US, Germany, Japan and Norway. The chief minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for the project in November. "We have identified 250 acres in Haldia to set up the integrated solar power project," said Lakshman Seth, an MP and the chairman of the Haldia Development Authority (HDA). "This will encourage the setting up of downstream industries, creating employment opportunities for around 10,000 people," he said. "Two overseas companies in the US and Germany have shown interest in the project," said an HDA official. He said they are likely to be stakeholders in the project, as they will set up manufacturing bases here. SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, an infrastructure equipment finance company, will be a partner in the project. http://www.financialexpress.com/news/Bengal-to-set-up-countrys-1st-integrated-solar-project/227663/ # Parvez Siddiqui, chief executive officer of HDA, said the companies in the project would mainly manufacture poly-silicon, a form of silicon refined to form crystals that are sliced into wafers to form silicon cells. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
