The Queen

Asma Siddiqui

Who is the Queen?
The grass is tall and the fields are green
The one who toils, from morn to night
In the fields, to make it bright
Or the one whose steps are elegant
Whose hands and feet so delicate
Few moments she strolls on the green
For hours she praises the green

Who is good at expression?
The poor who toils day in and day out
With mind and heart in harmony
Or the pompous dame
Whose words reveal the game
That mighty thoughts are lame
Words and actions crave for fame

Silence

Asma Siddiqui

Hush! It is silence
Nothing remains to explain

Trees sway in harmony
Birds sing a different symphony

O! Words in silence
Nothing, but deep in essence

World is a beautiful tragedy
People are quiet over its agony

Hush! It is silence
Nothing remains to explain

Love needs no expression
Silence needs no explanation

Yet, words become meaningless
As we say what we mean not to mean

Question the soul, does it speak? No
But yes! Only to those who can hear it speak!
